First off, if you are sensitive to graphic language then please stop reading immediately. This is a personal posting for Tomahawk4196, RevitFacts and all other Revit haters and BIMposters and it is not meant for anyone else to read. ; )
This post will quickly get very mean, sarcastic, graphic, personal and is meant as a general attack... It is an attack on ignorance and misinformation and those few who propagate the like in the world of BIM, specifically toward Revit.
Q: Why do we do this???
A: We want to help AEC, BIM, IPD, etc. not hurt them!!!
The "Revit flaws" below, in black were copied verbatim from one of the most Re
vit hate focused sites. Some of the posters (posers) are ArchiCAD users who need to create misinformation to bolster their software choices, others are simply CAD drafters who want to go back to the horse & buggy while others are hiding even more.
In an effort to distinguish the truth from fact we will provide responses to each item and we can all make up our own minds... My responses will be either blue or grey or orange (TG)...
Don't get me wrong; I do feel there are ways that Revit might improve, it's just that there are ways to get that accomplished and presenting lies as if they are truths is not the way to affect positive change. So with that said; here we go...
Revit flaws: AKA: "Things that expose Revit haters as being misinformed, shortsighted idiots.
1. Cannot import Word files. a) Is Copy/Paste is so difficult for you? b) It also can't import Cuban Cigars.
2. Cannot import Excel files. a) Uhhh Yes, there are tools for that! OMG!!!
3. Lacks AutoCAPS. OK, but your fucking keyboard has ALL CAPS, you bloody idiot. Oh, it also lacks electroshock... you should look into that.
4. Lacks ability to associate text with phases. a) Views are phase specific and so is text so technically you are incorrect. A view can only show one phase at a time, so the text therein is, by placement, part of that view, whatever phase it shows... b) Text isn't associated to anything; that's why the people who create the best BIM projects do not use text too much; they use the actual meta-data of the model and combine Tags & Keynotes predominantly. -Would you like the name of a good Psychiatrist???
5. Lacks ability to associate text with levels. a) Uhh what about the level name; isn't that text? I mean, I type something there :-) b) It doesn't associate text with stupidity either: sucks for you. c) Why the fuck is this functionality even a consideration??? d) Text is dumb and shouldn't be used if there is a better workflow: Tags/Keynotes are associated to objects & meta-data and that is much more powerful than dumb text: except to novelists; but that's not a sanctioned Revit or BIM task anyhow.
6. Lacks ability to associate text with worksets. a) Nor should it!!! b) Again you found a useless task that Revit won't do...Good job. How about Revit won't associate text to my imagination? Just like you don't associate your name to your gutless, hateful posts Tomahawk4196. - Text and other annotation is contained within the view's workset. Every view automatically creates a workset for itself when the view is created. You don't see it by default when you view worksets, but there is a check box to see "view" based worksets. So, your text is in a workset which is the same as the view name. 
7. Lacks ability to change case of selected text. WRONG. There are several tools that can do exactly that (click image left for one). b) Your car cannot change it's own tires so you should sell it (assuming you can drive). - A lot of companies are moving away from all CAPS for text. Its an old convention based on hand drawings that isn't needed anymore to keep text consistent. Time to get up to date with modern practices.8. Text box cannot have fixed width. OMG step away from over using text tool... There are many methods of getting fixed width text & information: some people (that would rather get work done instead of crying), use Key Schedules if they 'really' need to force a fixed width or even mimic tabular input. c) Revit is a BIM authoring tool, not a text editor... the straight edge of text does not make a project better or worse. Yes we'd like it but it's not as pressing as good modeling, good Design & Coordination, etc.
9. Text box changes width when it is clicked – without prompting. And how does that stop you from working? Oh, that is no longer an issue, it was a temporary bug.
10. Cannot have polygonal views, only rectangular. Yeah, we can't have round sheets either; damn standard business practices. FYI: I used to hand-draw and then CAD draw and let me tell you: having irregular view shapes DOES NOT hinder my ability to do work nor does that limit the fact that we can still make Revit/BIM sets look better than any CAD set ever could... Although the information may appear in a rectangular view it is much more useful & correct than CAD drafted sets... but I don't figure you care much about good projects, data fidelity, coordination, etc. -Would we use them? Yes but again it's not mandatory for good projects. - You can use the masking region tool to hide parts of the view giving you a non-rectangular look.
11. Pipe reducers do not show up in plan view. That's a "you" thing Tomahawk: they work for us!!! I bet you are using the wrong template to start with.
12. No ortho mode, and we can’t program F8 to be ‘constrain’. a) I guess the "Constrain" check-box is too difficult for you to use with your superior outlook and all? b) Ortho mode is crap in AutoCAD, to anyone who knows how to draw (or use a computer) proficiently; plus anyone who learns & grows with the advent of better tools gave Ortho up long ago... Sorry everyone; IMO: Ortho mode is for people who can't draw very well or haven't learned how to use dynamic snaps -that were invented nearly a decade ago to replace the dire limitation of simply X & Y. - Revit has a different way of invoking ortho mode than AutoCAD. Hold down SHIFT and you can only go horizontal and vertical. It even says this in the SNAPS dialog.
13. View filter ‘rules’ have no ‘or’ operator. By definition they actually do you fucking idiot!!! Filters setup choices and a choice between multiple variables IS by their pure existence either a "this" OR "that" choice I'll be simpler for you: on OR off... like your intellect...Off - For OR filters you just create a second filter. Not the best way, but it does allow OR.
WOW!!! I didn't think this would be so fun and enlightening!!! I hope you Revit haters are getting all of this down, because none of these complaints are as of yet valid flaws!!! To (kinda) quote Shaquille O'Neal: Hey (Revit Haters), "Tell Me How My Ass Tastes" -Yeah, if you watch that video you need to replace "Kobe" with "Revit Haters" but you get my point... Sorry Kobe; I dig your game and think you're one of the greatest but the video gets my feelings across to the haters to some degree... no disrespect intended GO LAKE SHOW :-)
14. Labels (pipe and duct) and text do not recognize each other, so they cannot line up. Because they had a bad argument and had to breakup... I guess your eyeballs are just not good enough to do this task themselves? Whatever... I call non-issue, due to impossible to read everyone's mind & desires.
15. Lacks ability to associate labels with phases. Uhhh what??? Labels are parameters of families that can live in any phase, it's up to the project & object's placement that dictates phase... Phase is a function of a project & view's state, so this one is as it should be ...We wish there was an association to you and comprehension or at least reality.
16. Lacks ability to associate labels with levels. Seriously you need education, imagination & creativity upgrades: a) A Level's Name is it's fucking label!!! -just like you: "Extremely Ignorant" can be your label now. b) to reiterate a label is part of a family and levels do not need that but hey, who am I? I have only been in AEC since 1982 and have used Revit since 2001... Shut up!!! I don't look as old as I actually am!!!
17. Lacks ability to associate labels with worksets. Because Labels are still part of Revit Families & worksets are neither families nor model or annotation objects. -Worksets are not physical objects in the building model, therefore there is nothing to 'label'. WS's are project specific and what label is needed to be associated with them anyhow??? Tell us that. - See #6 above, labels are annotation which like text are contained on the view's workset.
18. Entities cannot be ‘locked’ from being selected. YAAY!!! That's how it should be!!! Technically Design Options can limit that ability but that's not useful or recommended to do. There is no real reason an object wouldn't want to be selectable; that goes against everything in reality... If an object isn't selectable it can never be modified, deleted, etc. This really shows a new, profound level of your misguidance and whinging. - You can lock entities a few ways, worksets/design options/groups/pins. Sure they may be work arounds, but they all work effectively. For instance, put your grid lines in its own option and then check the option of "Exclude Options" and you won't select the grid lines when using a selection window.
19. Lacks ability to ‘set level’ during creation of entities. WRONG AGAIN a) Walls (and more) have that ability, you dunce. b) Objects will typically go onto the level one is working on, so it's still there. c) That would kill flexibility, creativity and efficiency. -Oh wait... I get it: let's make components be specific to levels, so I have to create objects with infinite possibilities based on levels...great idea... NOT. - All model objects in Revit require a reference level. Thus, they have a parameter called "Reference Level". It might not always be available to all objects at creation time, but by default, the objects will be created on the current view's reference level. If you want to change it from the view's reference level use the tool "Set Work Plane" to set a different level as the current level you want objects to be placed on.
20. Dimensions cannot be moved, have to be re-drawn. Completely incorrect yet again. a) One can re-associate dimension leaders to other objects after placement (sounds a lot like moving to me). b) Dimensions are object specific so just move the object and the dimension moves (like magic) you brain-trust.
21. Dimensions work poorly, in general. Dimensions work poorly unless you know what you are doing that is!!! If you know anything about how and what need dimensioning then they work fantastically well!!! -What was that??? being able to dimension an entire section of wall for instance, including every opening and adjoining wall doesn't prove them to be working well in your opinion??? Then your opinions are fucking absurd!!! Remember what opinions are like? They are like assholes... everyone has one and they usually stink like shit.
22. Lacks ability to ‘lock’ the visibility controls in a view. They are locked if you use your brain: just don't change them and you'll be fine. Do you also want to lock your car and throw away the keys??? - Use view templates to setup how you want your view settings to always be. If something has changed in your view settings, re-apply the view template to get it back to your preset settings.
23. ‘Match properties’ is a bad joke. Huh??? Oh I get it: You and a #BIMmodelingFluffyKitten walk into a bar... you order arsenic... the #BIMmodelingFluffyKitten orders a shot of tequila and a Guinness... the bartender suggests you use the match types tool so you don't die. -I know that may not be funny but your ignorance makes us laugh enough already... BTW: the Match Types tool works quite nicely, thank you very much!!!
24. Vertical pipe often drops down to -200’ or some other random number. We can't seem to recreate that 'flaw' here... Nor can other RMEP folks... That appears to be a "you" thing once again.
25. Many families have an unknown, invisible perimeter of selection. No they don't you dipshit; you just don't know what the fuck is happening at all... Families in Revit are selectable along their edges and align-able via reference planes & reference lines that are in the family; this is by design and these lines & planes are setup by the content creators to do so or not, by choice... they are neither unknown, nor invisible.
26. When drawn, section depth extents are often the length of the building. That's right!!! This is not a problem and whenever desired it's easily changed. I bet you'd complain if they only had a truncated depth: you'd probably say "Waaaahaaa Sections do not extend the depth of the entire building by default"... BTW: truncated means "discarding the least significant things" and we wish we could truncate your ignorance, stupidity and misguided vitriol.
27. Sections cannot be assigned to worksets. Wrong yet again (see image left yet again). Once worksets are invoked everything (read as EVERYTHING) that's an object has a workset of one kind or another!!! Now you can't do anything about changing the WS but who the fuck wants to??? Because sections are views, they create their own worksets named the same as the section.
28. Sections cannot automatically adopt view filters from parent plan view. Right. Filters are view independent... It's easy enough to create a View Template that only pushes the view filters around and since that gives ultimate flexibility and only takes a few seconds I again say shut the fuck up about meaningless bullshit that most people don't want anyhow. Oh wait, Revit should be tailored to you personally, not the industry; sorry, I forgot.
29. In the Properties dialog box, the left column does not stay a fixed width. Now this one really baffles me because mine stays where I leave it... Maybe some co-worker is fucking with you because you are seem like such an asshole... I wonder if I know you HAHAHAHA; I probably do... Maybe you are me??? Naaa.
30. Maximized Revit will not minimize during synchronization, effectively blocking access to the Desktop. a) Yes it will if you use ALT+TAB, but you'd have to know something about computers & software to do that... b) Get a second monitor you ignorant motherfucker. Also what do you want to do while most of your processors are busy working anyhow??? Step away from the porn, at least while Revit saves your work... Better yet Tomahawkie just hit CTRL+ALT+DEL and then kill the process titled "Revit.exe" and if you do this while it's saving your work you will find that all of your Revit issues will magically go away.
31. When opening a file from Revit, the DATE column is not DATE MODIFIED. Either you are just fucking with everyone, your OS has been messed with or the Mayan's are correct. Naaa, I think you are truly an imbecile!!!
32. Opening a dependent view does not Zoom Extents, often resulting in nothing being visible on screen. Only if you had nothing on-screen in the originating view. Revit opens the dependent view as it was when created... which was set to the zoom factor you set it to, so go bitch & moan to yourself for being such a dim wit.
I have to take a break, I am actually getting tired of being mean... What is the world coming to???

Now that list only has one more item (9) BUT the actual items that are listed are much more effective and powerful, when compared to the other BIM Authoring Tools!!!
